The 2025 Ford Ranger has received multiple awards, including winning the 2025 North American Truck of the Year. We’re going to take a closer look at some of the reasons it’s such a hit with so many drivers.
Three Engine Options
A 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine with auto stop-start technology is standard on the XL, XLT, and Lariat trim levels. It supplies 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a choice of RWD or 4WD. This fuel-efficient engine easily achieves 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway with RWD and 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway with 4WD.
XLT and Lariat drivers have the option of a 2.7L I-4 EcoBoost that produces 315 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD. This option provides 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. Exclusive to the Raptor, the 3.0L EcoBoost V6 delivers 405 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD, it offers 16 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.
Great Towing Ability
The XL, XLT, and Lariat trims can tow up to 7,500 pounds when equipped correctly. All three trim levels offer the Trailer Tow Package, which includes a Class IV trailer hitch receiver and a 4-pin/7-pin connector. The XLT and Lariat trim levels also offer the Advanced Towing Package, which adds a trailer brake controller, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, and Reverse Park Aid with Trailer Guidance.
XLT owners can add even more features for safe towing by adding the Advanced Towing Package Plus Technology Package. It includes everything in the Advanced Towing Package and adds a 360-degree camera, Adaptive Cruise Control with Speed Sign Recognition, and front parking sensors. All these systems are included on the Raptor trim, which can tow up to 5,510 pounds due to its heavier off-road standard equipment.
Exciting Cabin Technology
An 8″ digital instrument cluster is standard on the XL and XLT trims, with higher trim levels upgrading to a 12″ version. A 10″ infotainment touch screen is standard, with a 12″ screen available on higher trims. It’s located in the center stack and features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, enhanced voice recognition, Ford 911 Assist, and Ford Applink.
An AM/FM stereo radio with 6 speakers is included, replaced by a B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen with HD Radio and 10 speakers on the Lariat and Raptor. Higher trims also add wireless smartphone charging and SiriusXM.
